Callaway FT-iQ (38100 views/week)

Smart MOI delivers consistently long drives that split the middle of the fairway.
Straight distance. That’s what you want from your driver. No need to think. Just pick a target and swing away. Say hello to the FT-iQ Driver, the longest, straightest driver we’ve ever created. Using the coolest, latest technology found in Stealth Bombers and Formula 1 race cars, the brightest minds at Callaway Golf have created a driver with one result in mind: long bombs down the middle. The refined head shape has a sleek look and raises the moment of inertia (MOI) for unprecedented accuracy off the tee. Turbo-charge your tee shots with Hyperbolic Face Technology, which raises ball speeds across the entire face for more distance. The FT-iQ Tour Driver produces a more penetrating ball flight and features a slightly open face angle for a look preferred by accomplished players. The exclusive Fubuki shaft from Mitsubishi Rayon adds to the incredible feel and performance. So pick a target and fire a smart bomb.

Hyperbolic Face TechnologyHyperbolic Face Technology
Hyperbolic shaping is the cutting edge of driver face design. Mathematics and engineering combine to create Callaway’s highest ever ball speeds across the entire face.

Fusion TechnologyFusion Technology
Proprietary technology creates maximum perimeter weighting and more discretionary weight by combining a carbon composite body with the titanium face cup. This allows for precise positioning of the CG to increase stability on off-center hits and generate the straightest drives possible.

Improved Complete Inertial Design
Complete Inertial DesignThe refined head shape allows the MOI, center of gravity, face height and face thickness all to perform at their peak levels, providing premium distance, unprecedented forgiveness and straighter ball flight off the tee.

Visible External WeightingVisible External Weighting
Strategically placed weighting in the rear corners allow standard lofts to have Draw weighting to help golfers minimize fades and slices. Tour lofts will have Neutral weighting for golfers that already have a straight ball flight and want a lower, more penetrating trajectory.

Exclusive to the Callaway Golf FT-iQ Drivers, this ultra premium shaft by Mitsubishi Rayon has been designed with Modulus Differential Technology (MDT) for tour-level high launch, low spin performance.

This driver is much hotter than its 2007 counterpart. Incredibly easy to keep straight. The face is a little more closed at address than the original FT-i, with the regular model at 1* closed and the tour model at .5* open. I also tried the FT-9 and Diablo before i bought this. The FT-IQ seemed to have a much hotter club face than the other two. Although Callaway is VERY proud of it, as the price shows, it is definitely worth the money if you have problems keeping it in the fairway.

GOLFER Review

THIS CLUB IS THE BEST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY THAT CALLAWAY HAS TO OFFER

GREAT QUALITY AND FEEL

THE HEAD IS A LITTLE CLUMZY BUT THE PERFORMANCE IS Aced!!!

THE ONLY PROBLEMS:

1.YOU NEED TO PAY $500 USD FOR THIS

2. CALLAWAY HAS TO OFFER THE FT-9 THAT IS A GREAT PERFORMANCE CLUB

IT IS LESS IN A $100 AND IF YOU SEE ON TOUR MOST PLAYERS USE IT.

JUST BECAUSE ITS $100 LESS AND ITS A WORKABILITY DRIVER IT DOESNT MEAN THAT THE DRIVER IS NOT FORGIVING. ITS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD!

AND YOU HAVE TITLEIST

AND TAYLORMADE(TAYLORMADE SCREWS ARE FRAGILE SO IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THE SCREWS DONT BUY IT YOU WILL FEEL HALO AND IT WILLL BECOME A MICKYMOUSE CLUB USE A PRO FOR THAT SHIT

HHHH

WELL THATS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY

Jason K Review

the only part of this review i give less than 5 stars is the aesthetics. This club really is the real deal. Although the price stag is a bit steep, it is still cheaper than most of the top end japanese drivers you find on TSG. In fact, I got the Tour 8.5 version from Pete Carlson Golf and Tennis in Palm Desert, CA for $450, which is pretty good, since the Tour version retails at most shops around $529, and the non-tour (standard, non half lofts) retail around $500.

The Tour version doesn't look as closed at address as the non-tour version. it's pretty square, definitely not an open face.

although the design is unorthodox, when you set up at address it is actually not that difficult to look at and since the head is square, it helps you align yourself to the target quite well.

if you are familiar with the FT-5, fear not, the sound is nothing like it. the sound of the driver is very solid and confidence inspiring. it doesn't have that hollow sound that the ft-5 has. in fact, it might be the best sounding driver i've used in a while.

now, the shaft and head work together real well. mind you, i'm using a 8.5 loft head, and i would strongly suggest the same loft since the shaft gives it a mid-high launch, i would get a low loft head. it has plenty of carry but the low ball spin (i got to use the launch monitor at Cleveland golf with this driver and the guys were blown away by it. my best shot with their new Launcher still wasn't up to par with the low spin and carry of the FT-iq)

the ball just goes, and this is without even swinging hard. a relaxed and smooth swing gets the ball OUT there. and even if you hit it toward the heel or the toe, you lose no more than 20 yards or so. it really does correct your shots to go straighter as well. i tend to play a fade but i can't do anything but go straight or slightly draw it.

all in all i'm very happy and the price paid was worth it. although it's ugly, it is the most confidence inspiring driver, and most sonically pleasing driver i've used in a well.

well done Callaway.
