Titleist AP 2 Irons (34200 views/week)
Titleist AP2 irons are advanced performance, multi-material, dual cavity, technical forged irons providing traditional solid feel, looks and shot control for the skilled player.
AP2’s high technology multi-material construction features a forged 1025 carbon steel body, tungsten nickel box, elastomer cushion and aluminum cavity plate to deliver outstanding performance and feel.
The high density tungsten nickel box is laser welded to the back and sole. This locates the center of gravity in the center, low, and deep to improve launch conditions. The box structure and tungsten nickel material tune low frequency vibration for unmatched solid feel.
The dual cavity design of AP2 pushes weight to the perimeter. The central cross member with soft elastomer cushion provides rigidity behind the face for solid feel while reducing face vibration.
Titleist AP2 irons offer a contemporary, confidence inspiring appearance in the playing position with a traditional profile and blade hosel junction. The metallic cavity plate tunes sound and feel and provides attractive cosmetics for great bag appeal.

I purchased my set of AP2's in July of 08. I initially ordered a custom set from TGW. After 3 months and a lot of excuses by TGW, I cancelled the order and bought a stock set from Edwin Watts. Off to my golf fix it guy they went. New X-stiff Dynamic Gold shafts in the proper lenght and adjusted 2 degree up and voila!!, what TGW could not manage to do in 3 months, I did it myself in (1) week.
I bought these irons because I liked the looks of them. I never did hit them before I purchased the set. Now that I have played them for over one year I can assure anyone who reads this that Titleist knows how to make a set of irons. These are by far the most solid feeling, accurate "players iron" that I have ever hit. Shots can be turned in both directions with ease. I can hardly remember ever hitting an iron shot any straignter than these irons do. If you are a better player and want to try out the AP2, you will not be disappointed. I was in the habit of changing iron sets every 3-5 years. That won't be happening this time. These irons are really that good. As one local and respected golf pro in my area told me, that club (AP2) is probably the best iron Titleist has produced in the last 25 years. I agree completely.

Since I got my clubs I have hit more greens in regulation. I have gained about a half of a club difference from my old clubs. The proformance is great. I am able to work the ball any way that I want. I have seen the biggest improvement in the mid irons. I can hit my 7-5 irons a lot higher and make it stop closer to the hole. I would recommend these clus to anyone who is looking for proformance and workability. These are not for the higher handicapped golfer. If a touring pro like Adem Scott can play them then that says how good of a product Titliest has.

Just got these babies and played nine w/o even hitting the range... in some pretty windy and wet condtions, only missed the first green- was a full club longer. Made the adjustment and hit the remaining eight greens in regulation. Ended up shooting an even par 34. I was putting very well, so that helped my score. But these irons are super sweet and the alignment is easy. Hit the seven as high as my x20Tour nine, with more distance. Not sure who put the recomendation for mid to high handicapper. If you call Adam Scott, Steve Stricker, Brad Faxon, etc. "mid to high" then I guess it fits. I certainly would not consider these game improvement. The AP1s lean more toward that, with more offset and thicker topline and sole. Billy Mayfair is the only Pro that I know of that is playing the AP1s.
Faxon has been playing the same irons for 5-6 years. I would not recommend these to anyone who does not consistently shoot in the 80s or lower. What a set of irons!
